The hinge is a powerhouse movement pattern, pivotal for building strength & preventing injuries.
If you’re training 1-3 times a week, incorporating hip hinging into every session is essential to unlock its full benefits.
However, this doesn’t mean just performing the same deadlift repeatedly..
Instead, diversify your approach by training the hinge in various positions and with different muscle focuses to master this foundational pattern.
Here are three variations of the hinge movement to include each week:
1. Classic Deadlift:
Think of movements like the trap bar lift. Focus on building strength from the ground up with heavier weights &!lower reps.
2. Romanian Deadlift:
Use options like dumbbells for a full range of motion, enhancing both muscle growth & flexibility with moderate reps.
3. Single Leg Hinge:
Try variations that engage balance & coordination, such as the single-leg lift. These improve athleticism & control, allowing for diverse rep ranges & tempos.
